Before one can even attempt to be considered a wavejunkie, he or she must follow a few basic rules. The Code is on the Honor System and will be enforced solely by the Wavejunkies. Have fun!, but be smart! These are just a few commons sense items and can not take into account all circumstances:
| All Junkies - A Junkie must ride AT HIS OWN RISK. Rule
- You must wear a type III, or type V personal flotation device. Rule
- You will never ride in the ocean alone or have the only watercraft. Rule
- Always be Polite and Courteous to Local Authority and others. Rule
- Your Boat must have a valid registration (somewhere). Rule
| - Always maintain at least a 150 foot distance from surfers, swimmers, or other ocean users. Exception
- Do not race parallel, or cross-distance within 100 feet of shore. Exception
- Do not jump within 50 feet of another Junkie. Exception
- Do not ride or jump the Back of the wave towards shore. Exception
- Always stay with group during rides and report to group if exiting early or equipment failure. Exception
| - Always offer assistance to others in need. Suggestion
- Helmet use is recommended for aerial stunts and highly encouraged regardless. Suggestion
- A Junkie will attend WITH FREQUENCY to group rides, and to be a true junkie will ride year round. Suggestion
- A Junkie must participate and promote the POSITIVE direction of the VBWJ'S. Suggestion
- Always have fun and "talk trash" as much as possible! Suggestion
- Have thick skin, we're all just guys talkin trash. Suggestion
