For the most part, operating a watercraft within 100yds of shore along the Atlantic coast of Virginia Beach is illegal. There are some exceptions depending on the time of day and the time of year, but always ALWAYS remain at least 100yds from swimmers, surfers, the jetty, the pier, fisherman, etc. Be safe and give everyone else the right of way.
If you have any questions regarding the legal times to ride, ask a Marine Patrol cop, a veteran junkie, or look up all city codes regarding swimming, surfing, and operating watercraft along the Atlantic shoreline. Other laws apply such as valid/legible registration, type III or better lifevest/pfd, whistle, and fire extinguisher. Show your junkie spirit and support for local law enforcement and abide by these simple laws. |
