Disclaimer YOU RIDE AND PERFORM AT YOUR OWN RISK! Instructions Difficulty: Challenging and should only be performed with a HELMET! Things You'll Need - Helmet- with Face guard
- Gloves
- Shoes
- Clean Surf.(Waist High Sets).
Steps Step One Approach the wave at slightly above idle with the ski on a plan. Wait for the wave to roll up into a ramp type angle. DO NOT Launch off a breaking or about to break wave. You want to launch off the wave at approximately a 45 degree angle and have at least a constant 1-2 seconds of hang time. Practice just the launch a few times and get use to the surf conditions and hang time. Step Two Feel comfortable with the surf conditions of the day? You want to start pulling your feet out of the footwells. WARNING: Do not jump using your feet; this is a BIG misunderstanding or incorrect assumption. You want to roll your feet backwards by pivoting your crotch on the seat. Do this a couple of times. Each attempt you should try to get your feet back further. Step Three When the feet are behind you start using the the momentum of the jump to push the ski in front of you, and straighten your arms. The ski will lay flat. When you pull back and prepare for the landing the ski will tilt back up to a 45 degree landing. Practise this until you are comfortable to proceed to the next step. Step Four Now start to pull your feet together and straighten your legs out and back.
Step Five Your body should be flat at the apex of this jump, like you are lying down (or flying like the Man of Steel). The ski should be parallel with your body. Step Six Land smooth and in control. Tips & Warnings - You should do this on a jump that will give you a decent amount of hang time, especially when you're first learning it. Once you have Supermans dialed, you can do them faster, higher and on longer jumps.
- Be sure to slide your feet off out of the tray gently. If you push off of them, you'll push the ski away and you'll probably wreck or face plant into the handle bars.
- When you push the ski in front of you, do it gently, with the momentum from the jump. If you push too hard or jerky, you'll lose it.
- As you get more comfortable with the trick, you'll be able to stretch out more.
- Surf freestyle is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
- Always wear a helmet.
