Difficulty: Very easyno straps

Requirements: Foot straps or footwells highly recommending to inhibit rider/ski separation. Helmet recommended. On standups, stiff pole or decent pole spring recommended.

Whuchya do:

  1. Grow a set of balls. Seriously nothing bad is going to happen to you but I claim no responsibility if it does. This is a really easy trick once you get over the fear of letting go. The hard part is finding some flava' to make your no-hander look good...
  2. Practice letting go with one hand first.
  3. Hit a nice good foot or higher wave at a 50-75deg angle. I like to preload/prejump to control my angle of climb and to slightly unweight myself so my body matches the climb of the ski instead of getting pulled into the jump.
  4. Lean slightly into the ski as you let go of the bars. Otherwise the front will have a tendency to rise too far and you will end up slamming the tail of the ski in the sand or you'll just look like a noob. Embarassedgood pole spring and footwells550sx w/floppy pole & no straps
  5. Shake it up some - clap your hands behind you back, over your head, turn around and face the beach, give your buddies the bird, land with no hands....
  6. Tip: If you have a real floppy pole such as capitanBS in the 550sx pic here--->, it helps to toss the pole up some to give you time to pull off the trick and grab the pole before it slams down on the hood.
  7. Tip: If you have no footwells or foot straps, definitely practice unweighting your body so you get the hang of not letting it drift away from the ski. And never push away from the ski when trying to pull this trick - you must remain neutral so that you can easily grab the bars and prepare for a safe landing.
